The Strait of Hormuz is becoming increasingly tense as the United States launches a military mission called “Project Freedom” to protect commercial shipping.
The U.S. Central Command says its forces will help keep sea routes open, using ships, aircraft, and thousands of troops. However, Iran warns it will attack any foreign forces entering the area, calling the mission a violation of the ceasefire.
At the same time, tensions remain high after reports of drone attacks on a tanker and threats against ships in the region. Talks to end the conflict are still ongoing, but no agreement has been reached yet.
