Tensions between Iran and the United States remain high as a two-week ceasefire is set to expire on April 22. Donald Trump says Iran must negotiate or face continued pressure, including a naval blockade.
Iranian officials say they are open to talks but are prepared to respond strongly to any attacks, describing negotiations as happening “with a finger on the trigger.” However, Iran has not confirmed participation in new talks planned in Islamabad, Pakistan.
Meanwhile, U.S. forces boarded an Iran-linked vessel in international waters, and
Trump accused Iran of violating the ceasefire. Inside Iran, executions of protesters and an ongoing internet blackout continue to raise concerns.
